TRANSLATION SOLUTION

//UX/UI DESIGN

For my Bachelor thesis, co-authored with Lisa Falke Frey, we explored how museums can enhance their offerings through the implementation of a user-friendly digital translation solution. The final product was a prototype of a digital translation solution which was tested by several participants in a museum setting. This was a collaboration with Jönköping Kommun. The thesis will soon be published and available for reading.

//CONCEPT

By investigating the digital translation solutions used by other Swedish museums, relying on previous research within the field and implementing guidelines such as WCAG, we developed this prototype. The prototype was later tested in a session where participants performed several tasks while thinking out loud. This approach allowed us to gain insight into their thought processes. Participants frequently mentioned the importance of simplicity and clarity of the interface.

//RESULTS

The findings indicated that participants found the digital translation solution comprehensible and easy to learn how to operate. The majority of the participants believed it improved their museum experience for several reasons, including the ability to read and listen to text in their native language instead of always needing to read in English or Swedish.
